You, Lord, keep my lamp burning;
my God turns my darkness into light. (Psalm 18:28)

I met my friend and brother, Elder Robert Glenn, known as Elder Glenn, at a Christian retreat hosted by out of Lafayette, NJ.

Wayne Monbleau hosts the longest running talk radio program in history, secular or Christian. His program is called LET'S TALK ABOUT JESUS and that is all Wayne talks about.

When Wayne would talk about the retreat called Worship In The Woods, he would say " Elder Glenn will be there!" I often wondered " Who is this man, Elder Glenn?

Robert Glenn was born in North Carolina 85 years ago. He is a ""Christmas baby"!

He has been a street preacher and all around ambassador for Jesus as he plays his harmonica wherever he goes. He has been used of the Lord in the healing ministry, visiting hospital patients to whom the Lord sends him.

When I finally met him, he was playing his harmonica at the retreat and drawing a crowd. I was one of that crowd and have been with him ever since.

Ironically, he only lived two blocks from my apartment in Norristown.

Even more ironically, my current wife was living in the same building he was!

Elder Glenn had a Wednesday evening Bible Study and Prayer Meeting in the Social Room and I came and saw Joan there.

When Elder Glenn found out that I played guitar, he told me " Always bring your guitar. That's your tool. You can't do the Lord' s work with no tools!"

As I played, Joan asked me why I always looked down. She said " You are very good. Hold your head high".

Then, she said, " Somebody said something to you, didn't they?"

It was my mother. After I mustered enough courage to play for her, her response was a dry, unemotional

" I guess you're as good as the rest of them".

At home on my " range", there was seldom heard an encouraging word.

But Joan made the difference. She built up my confidence and I even got to recording some CD's. She became my " roadie".

Joan and I became " fellow ministers" with Elder Glenn as he invited us along to his preaching engagements. I drove.

Between Elder Glenn and Joan, my confidence was renewed and I became more comfortable performing in public.

The Lord took me into a songwriting ministry as He led me to create songs from Scripture, mainly from the psalms which were created as songs. I have a CD of all original songs that I created, music, not lyrics, except in some cases.

I love writing and singing. The guitar is my accompaniment, not my specialty, though I've been told I am pretty good. I agree. I am " pretty good".

Everyone needs a mentor or someone to help and encourage them. I can say that is Elder Glenn to me. His famous motto, ""Hallelujah, anyhow" brings smiles to many faces. He also says" Any mind that is not a Christ mind is a crazy mind!" That gets a chuckle also.

One night, Joan and I saw him at the laundry room downstairs. Afterwards, she said, " I was looking at you looking at Elder Glenn. It was a look of great respect, love and admiration, like a child looking to his daddy."

Yes, Elder Glenn is more a big brother. He is only 15 years older than I but our relationship is like father to son. Perhaps like Paul to Timothy.

At one of our engagements, I overheard the pastor say" Wherever Elder Glenn goes, he goes". I liked that. Elder Glenn is held in high esteem where his spirit- filled preaching is well received and appreciated.
That is the company I want to be in.

We are Team Jesus ( my choice of name) and we lift up the Lord wherever we go!

Holiness exudes from this wonderful man of God. That is a rare commodity in these times.

I am proud, thankful and blessed to have made the acquaintance of Robert " Elder" Glenn.

Hallelujah, anyhow!
